Total Character Makeover is kind of a blanket replacer for nearly every NPC in the game but it’s not as high quality as more focused NPC mods like the Bijin series, but it’s a good mod to use as a base. Beauty of Skyrim, it’s massive but it covers everything.

You might want to look at either Diversity, Foxy Skyrim or Total Character Makeover. Other than those you'll only find mods that change certain NPCs but are not as extensive as WICO or those mentioned above. Total Character Makeover is really well done and Coverkhajits for the kitties (Oldrim mod but works fine in SE).

WICO is basically a disaster under the hood, editing a bunch of things it shouldn't, including making all NPCs essential which can potentially break quests. It needs patching or the running of an xEdit script to be acceptable, and if you ask me there's no reason to really bother when Cathedral is basically the same thing.

If you get really Type-A, delete all the conflicting meshes and textures from the mods you are overwriting to eliminate all conflicts too (i.e., if you have too many Aela's floating around and are worried about black face bug, delete every conflicting Aela from the mods until you only have the one you want left).
