Usually there is no return line on a carburetor as the needle and seat shut off the fuel flowing into the carb. The return line is usually on the fuel pump or sometimes as on many chrysler type systems on the fuel filter itself. I suspect that if the weber is a low pressure design about 2 psi, the regulator will help.

Sep 21, 2007 · 41703. Comon guys YJ's use a return line, TJ's do not. Most of the manufactures switched at the OBD1/OBD11 transition. I own a 93 YJ and a 99TJ, YJ's have a regulator on at the fuel rail with the return going back to the tank and TJ's have a single feed line with all regulation in the tank as part of the sending unit. Essentially look at your fuel filter. The drain line is on top, carb feed on bottom. Any "over pressure" condition bleeds out through the top and back to the tanks to be cycled again with little or no pressure. It extends the life of the pump and keeps the pressure regulated at the carb. "The Jeep is a manly device.It's kind of a hard plastic line with "quick disconnects" on both ends. I took the old metal tank out of my 89 and used a 20 gallon tank for a 94 or 95 YJ with the in tank pump. It needed a supply and return line so I used a corvette regulator mounted to the frame back by the tank therefore only running one line forward to the fuel rail. The only thing different was I was feeding a V8.

I have a 89 jeep wrangler 258 6 cylinder with a fuel delivery problem. I replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, and lines. It seems that the bypass on the fuel filter creats a vacumm and stops gas from going to the carb. If i pore gas into the card it starts and runs till that gas is used. Any thoughts or ideas would get ths 89 back on the road.
