On a 2012 I highly doubt this is the case. The other reason is a leak in the system, also unlikely on a newer car but not impossible.

Common for this Elantra is cvvt and camshaft failure. See handful of times it will not set a check engine light and only present issues when coming to a stop. There is a test to ground the cvvt. My 2018 did the same thing and it ended up being the ignition coils and spark plugs that needed replacing.
