ahud is probably at best for being a good looking, minimalistic clean HUD. FlatHUD is also clean but has a style you can like or not. ToonHUD for the amount of understandable customizability it gives to the user. RaysHUD for the iconic TF2 feel. Your HUD doesn't really matter on the class you play. There are HUDs optimized for Spy and Medic where they make the charge meter or disguise kit less obtrusive/easier to see but you should be pretty familiar with those if you main the class. It really shouldn't matter at all. Some good HUDs: Ray's. OMPs.I only tried a couple HUDs. I like this one for having nice large text and a minimalistic UI. Also the team/class selection and MotD dialogs don't cover the whole screen so you can see what's happening in-game even while in those menus.

I use lionhud. It maintains the original style of the default hud but updates a lot of elements to make it more usuable. Eg Uber meter under crosshair etc. lavahud's a really flashy but nice looking hud. lionhud's the default hud but its more streamlined.
