The 9N-2N lift is much simpler with only one external adjustment. The most common problems with the 8N linkage are wear and bent linkage. Look at the 8N link that goes down to the valve. With the side cover off, you should see the control lever - long, kinda flat rod coming from the top and going down into the toggle link that operates hydraulic pump control valves.
