Parked at a building this morning, doors locked before I got two parking spaces away. You can touch the fingerprint scanner on the handle to lock the doors, but it doesn’t have automatic walk-away lock (yet). It doesn’t. And you probably should disable the digital key anyway. Congrats on the new car.

This was the main reason why many brands created apps to work as fobs. However, it won't spare you from running out of battery or losing the fob.I have a 2024 Limited and it is the first car I've owned with push button starting. I've used a lock box to keep my ignition key secure, while in the water. Most thieves will pass this up for an easier target. If you unlock the doors with the app and don't open a door within a minute they will automatically relock, so Subaru has the technology but has chosen not to implement it for normal walk away operations. Open the door. Press the door lock button. The car will automatically unlock the door. However in this case the lock system did a strange thing by locking the doors when I left the drivers seat to scrape the windows. It locked the doors after the door was closed and I was outside cleaning.Roll down the drivers side window. 2. Get out and close the door. 3. Reach in and hit the door lock button. 4. While reaching in, hit the window "auto-up" and pull arm out before it gets caught int he window. All doors are now locked with the motor running. There is a switch on the drivers arm rest (by the door mirror retractor switch) to over ride the auto lock when the engine is running.
The 2018 Crosstrek has a key inside the remote. You press the silver pin to release it. Insert the key into the driver door lock, turn it to lock and unlock, and try again. A few things. I bought a 2024 Limited and there are a few features I was surprised to find that it doesn't have: automatic wipers, walk away locks, power hatch. I wish it had a sunglass holder and I wish the eye sight system was less bulky and had fewer lights. It reminds me of the light/fan panel on a flight.
