In 2023, NinjaTrader made a big change and shifted its business model. They started to provide a free license to their software platform if a user opened up a brokerage account. The only catch here is that you would pay higher commissions. For a lot of people just starting out, this is a good trade-off.

E.g. if you hunt for 1 point profit in MES, your profit after commision will be slightly less than 0.75. If your profit is only 1 tick, then you are losing money. Sierra, but if it’s between the two, avoid Tradovate at all costs. If you use windows it’s not even a question, just go with ninjatrader. Ninjatrader bought out tradovate and I think eventually tradovate will disappear. NinjaTrader Brokerage is terrible from an "account management" perspective. Tradovate is great, online platform is surprisingly decent, and you can get a CQG connection to any platform that supports it.
