Already have the gun by a matter of chance, but don't know anything specific (pops really needs to stop accidentally bidding on gunbroker). All I know is the barrel is too long for my desired purpose as a recreation of the classic M97. Winchester 1897 Heat Shield/Bayonet Lug Repro. I also would need to drill the endcap, or drill and tap. I think the shield aligns or attaches to a hole in the end cap. If you can't do this, you need the correct endcap.

Norinco 1897 trench gun heat shield keeps wandering forward under recoil. I plan on milling out the screw threads and taping for a larger size thread that will actually protrude more.
