Posted March 18, 2012 (edited) Just weighed my weapons on a certified scale. Bushmaster M4 with quad rail, red dot sight and loaded 30 rnd mag= 9.13lbs. Saiga IZH-108 with quad rail, red dot sight and loaded 12 rnd drum= 13.27lbs. Short barrel and no accessories would be the lightest. This is a surplus Romanian rpk lower handguard (HG) I used a dremel tool with a sanding drum to enlarge the opening at the receiver end. I tapered the opening to about 3/4 of the way down the HG towards the muzzle end of the HG.
