Recently had the oil changed and the carbs cleaned and it runs as good as the day I bought it new. This bike is almost bulletproof.Plug the EPA Gold valve or bypass hose back onto the nipples in the valve covers. Route the coolant overflow tube back up to the thermostat housing and connect. Now move to the right side of the bike and route the carb float bowl vent tube, fuel tank vent tube(s) and speedometer cable back into position and connect.I've been having trouble getting the carburetor dialed in on my Vulcan 800. At this point, I'm not sure if my thoughts were correct, or if something else is causing the problem. It's a '99 VN800A with Cobra exhaust. The last would be to check the voltage on the regulator. Connect DC meter to Black/Yellow and White wires on the regulator connector. Idle should be 12v. At 6 - 8k rpm you should have 14-15volts. Anything else with a good read on the stator means the regulator is bad. 1995 VN800A.

I love my VN750. To quiet down the final drive I changed to synthetic gear oil (Valvoline 75-115), it makes one big difference. The only maintenance required on the shaft is the rear spline lubrication with moly60 lube, easy to do and not often. It's one fast bike.
