If the primary were to go on to far, the cooling fins on the back of the clutch could hit the metal plate behind it.02 prairie 650 wont start. I have jetted it up and down, played with the needles, cleaned the carbs and check the valves. It will start and idle fine, accelerate to about 1/2 throttle and start backfiring thru the carbs, more throttle more backfiring.
