Decided to replace thermostat. Put new Mopar thermostat in, and the JK still runs at 220 on average. Took JK to my other mechanic. He did some research and found that drilling a 1/8" hole in thermostat will allow Jeep to run cooler. Decided to drill hole. The Jeep is still running hot. About 220. Took the JK back to the dealer.

It seems that there are more complaints from owners with 12 plus 3.6 JK's running hot, but in most instances it's normal. The variable speed fan is a better set up than prior year JK's. Beginning in 2012 with the 3.6 Chrysler went to a variable speed fan, basically low-med-high. A 3.6 will usually run at 210-230 with the AC off.
