Confirm you are using the correct tool. Your Delta Faucet product came with a hex key, also called Allen wrench. Delta Faucet handles use a hex key of either 3/32" for smaller handles or two handle sets; or 1/8" for single handles. If the set screw is stripped, try a rubber band on the end of the Allen key.
