Biggest factor is that people don't really walk their cats. There are no such things as "cat parks." So you don't deal with issues where a cat suddenly runs after you or meows loudly enough to wake up the whole neighborhood. Simply put, cats aren't taken out in public that much so r/petfree people don't have to deal with them.

I think pet ownership, as it is in popular culture, is an entirely selfish endeavor; if someone isn't caring for an animal that already exists out of the goodness of their heart, then that animal as a pet just exists to be owned by them.
