You should be aiming to get platinum everytime since it has the best rewards and more likely to get the exotic.
Lost sectors should usually give the specific (new) armour pieces first, based on what type is on offer that day (leg, chest head etc) and after they drop random exotic armour based on what you don't have already. If you already have all the exotic armour in the world loot pool then you just get random rerolls of them.
Final Thoughts: 151 Master lost sectors. 35 exotics. 15 - 20 hours over 5 days JUST from successful runs. Does not include time spent from the times I failed and wasted 6 - 10 minutes per fail. Does not include time spent driving to each lost sector miles from nearest landing zone.
