The RXP20 shot cup depth is 7/8" with smooth petals and the SP20 is 1" with stitched petals and ribs. In the Federal hull I would try the fed 20S1 or clone to stop powder migration unless you shoot them right away.

Jul 17, 2009 · This is the old version of the waa20, not the new, longer one. I wound up using SP20 wads. Oh, & yes, I do take care to keep my hulls dry & if they get water on them, I dry them & wipe them off with an oily rag, but they rust anyway!! I am going to order some of the DR 20 versalite wads. I hear good things about the Orange Duster also. I also loaded them in the Old Rem RXP cases with the CCI209 primer and everything else the same. This load was at 1165fps, 9,800psi. These loads came straight out of the IMR manual and I loaded them for over 25yrs. No this wad isn't the same as the SP20 wad. The SP20 wad is a 1oz wad and the W23678 wad was a 7/8oz wad.

Remington SP20 wad Pressure with 17.8 grains is 12000 psi so this is just under that. Velocity with 17.8 grains is 1220 fps so probably about 1200 fps. Federal hull Win primer 20 grains Longshot Fed 20S1 wad Pressure with 20.9 grains is 10800 and is 9900 psi with 19.7 grains. So in between that.The SP20 is a very commonly listed wad for the bigger payloads, but I've got a bit of concern about powder migration in the straight hull. The more volume shooting target loads will be headed towards the Rem and AA hulls with clone wads desired for cost/convenience.

I have been loading my home cast #4 buckshot for my 20 ga Mossberg 500 with an 18" barrel. I use either a Remington or Winchester hull with Blue Dot powder and a Remington SP20 wad. I have destroyed a couple birds at 20 yards with them, and recovered one SP20 that broke and shuttlecocked with a lot of pellets in it. Not much left of that breast. I guess there are other 1 ounce wads out there but I am fine now with the 7/8 oz.
