Historically people switched from Reshade to Gshade because Gshade was easier to install and had some features that only were usable on Reshade with a lot of hassle (like depth shaders), eventually Reshade made that easier but by then everyone switched to Gshade and generally people were happy until the recent shitshow, but current iterations of Gshade and Reshade are basically the same.

Right now it's safe to use, but nothing stops that guy from making it unsafe again, as very recently he still defends his actions and sees himself as having done nothing wrong, so he'll likely do it again in the future.
