So I put the old plug washer and drain bolt back in drove it in locked VTM for about 100 yards. I beleive your rear differential takes GL-5 80/90 or 75/90 gear lube, NOT Z-1 ATF! But, you had better double check. I sure that others will chime in and help out also. Good to be cautious! So far none of the above are correct. The 2005 Pilot takes Honda VTM-4 differential fluid.

On the early first gen it used the atf, then in I think 06 they separated the front differential from the transmission.
